Summer Training 2010

It's June 1. You know what that means? OFFICIAL start to cross country summer training. I could honestly start whenever, but the way my mind likes to organize things, I really would like to start on the first of a month. Coach James should be sending out his "suggested" aka "strongly recommended" summer training plan this week. I'm anxious to look that over and see what he wants and expects from us. It will be his first year as head coach, after many years of assisting under Coach Sull. It's sad and strange that Coach Sull won't be coaching xc next year, but I'm excited to see what James has planned. He is very knowledgeable about running, and I especially like his approach to cross/strength training.

I've already got a few races lined up for the summer. I'm signed up for the Louise Rosetti 5k in Beverly, MA on June 16. I ran this race last year and got third place in my age group, bringing home some nice hardware for the shelf. I am also planning on doing a few of the Good Times 5k races. They are run every Tuesday night during the summer in my hometown, Lowell, MA. The past few years this race series has been drawing a good sized (and competitive) field of runners. I'm most looking forward to the Good Times Bikini 5k! It's always a good time ;)

As always, I have some lofty goals for this summer and for cross country season in the fall. After just missing GNAC All-Conference last fall, I'm more determined than ever to completely annihilate anyone and everyone who crosses my racing path next fall. I can already tell it's going to be a great summer!
